Mid South Coliseum - Empty Arena '81

Memphis, Tennessee. Graceland. Sun Records. The Academy Award winning Three 6 Mafia. And the “Entertainment Capital of the Mid-South”.

The hallways of the hallowed Mid-South Coliseum once echoed with the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, David Bowie & The Rolling Stones. It was home to Jerry “The King” Lawler, and his infamous battle with the “Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World”, Andy Kaufman.

But on April 6, 1981, it staged the iconic Empty Arena match vs. Terry Funk. Pay homage to this legendary match (as called by the voice of Memphis wrestling, Lance Russell) with this tribute to another Pro Wrestling Mecca, the Mid-South Coliseum.

“Lawler, my eye!”
